Born in Savigliano, Italy (August 9, 1985), as young as 8, Luca Filippi started racing in go-kart competitions.
In 2002, he won the "Astra & Autosprint searching for drivers" competition, thus beginning his MazdaMX-5 CUP experience where he finally placed first once and finished twice on the podium.
The following year, he took part to the Formula RENAULT2000 Championship where he proved to be one of the most promising drivers. In 2004, he kept on racing in Formula Renault finishing third.
In 2005 he was singled out by FMS to race in the Italian Formula 3000, and won the Championship. At the end of 2005, for the first time he drove a F1 car (Minardi Team), achieving good time results.
His GP2 experience started in 2006. In 2007 he achieved the 4th place in the Main Championship and Honda F1 choose him as his F1 Test driver. Luca also won the “Casco D’Oro”, the Oscar of racing given by Autosprint, and kept testing with Honda until the japanese team retired.
In 2009 got the 5th place in the GP2 Main Series and in 2010 gained the 2nd place in the GP2 Asias Series.
Currently Luca races in GP2 2011 Main Series and Auto GP Championship both with Super Nova Racing Team.
